Manic Monday

1)  “We’re not leaving the church because we don’t find the cool factor there; we’re leaving the church because we don’t find Jesus there.”   Rachel Held Evans shares at CNN.com.  As someone who has heard this over and over again from college students who were raised in the faith/church but are running away once they get to university, and as someone who has led a ministry of young people I understand the temptation to be cool, to be relevant while also needing to honor the culture of younger generations.

2)  “And, there, pressed in against my hulking husband was a girl no bigger than my 13 year old. A tiny delicate thing”   Ever feel helpless to do anything about the millions enslaved worldwide, including sex slaves?  Read this and consider giving to Exodus Road ministries.

3)  “I chose their side”. As the Internet is raging over post-Treyvon verdict with talk on race and privilege, here is a white guy who ‘chose their side’.  This is a beautiful and raw look at the Lakota Sioux people where they are to day and where they have come from.
